The Youth Theatre outdid themselves again when they brought ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ to stage. Within minutes the audience were delighted by well beloved characters, hilarious lines, and one teenage boy stuffing cucumber sandwiches and muffins into his mouth, whilst attempting to pronounce words like ‘inquisitorial’. The group rose to this challenge of embracing an era so different from the world they know. They embraced our etiquette lessons, spending rehearsals gliding about with books on their heads. For some it was their first performance with us, others have been around for years, yet each one has grown in confidence and skill. Our costume team did an incredible job, transporting us back to the late 19th century, adorning the characters in skirts, hats, neck ties and shawls. The Lord blessed us with some wonderful pieces of props and set, including the famous handbag. This was my last performance as director, and I couldn’t have asked for more. God is so good! Thank you to all who came and supported us, we hope you will come back in the summer for another show.
